General
Remove the electric starter and solenoidRefer to Starter Removal on p145Remove the oil tank and oil injection hosesRefer to Oil Tank Assembly on p190Remove the EMM, wiring harness assembly, flywheel, and statorRefer to ELECTRICAL AND IGNITION and ENGINE MANAGEMENT MODULE (EMM) sectionsRemove fuel pump assemblies and fuel injectorcoil assembliesRefer to FUEL SYSTEM section
Next, remove the set screw from the shift rod leverThe shift rod lever will slide off the shaft
1Shift rod lever screw
Pull the shift linkage assembly out and away from the crankcaseRemove the ball, guide, and spring of the shift detent assembly from the crankcase
