BEFORE START-UP
Gearcase Lubricant
With outboard in vertical position, check the gearcase lubricant level: Remove the lubricant level plugLubricant must be even with the bottom of the threaded hole clean tie strap can be used as "dip stick" if the lubricant level is not obvious Add HPF XR gearcase lubricant as needed
Trim and Tilt Fluid
Make sure trim and tilt reservoir is full before running outboard: Tilt the motor up and engage the tilt support Remove filler cap and check fluid level If necessary, add enough EvinrudeJohnson Biodegradable TNT Fluid to bring fluid level even with bottom of fill cap hole when unit is at full tiltRefer to Reservoir Fluid on p287
