POWERHEAD CYLINDER HEAD ASSEMBLY If unable to measure valve guide inside diameter, measure valve stem deflection as follows: Install valve into valve guidePosition the valve head at approximately 10 mm away from valve seatMove valve head in "X" and "Y" directions and measure deflection with dial indicatorMeasure valve stem runoutIf measurement exceeds service limit, replace valve Service limit: 0.002 in(0.05 mm)
Measure valve head radial runoutIf measurement exceeds service limit, replace valve Service limit: 0.0012 in(0.03 mm)
Valve stem deflection: Service limit: 0.006 in(0.16 mm) If measurement exceeds service limit, replace valveIf measurement still exceeds service limit with new valvereplace valve guideInspect valve stem end face for pitting and wearIf necessary, valve stem end may be resurfaced Use caution when resurfacing, do not grind away stem end chamferWhen chamfer has been worn away, replace valve004529
