IGNITION SYSTEM TROUBLESHOOTING
TROUBLESHOOTING
Perform the following ignition system tests when engine is hard to start to determine if the cause is in the ignition or other systemSTART
Check spark condition (Set tester gap at 516) No or weak sparks
Check ignition timing by using timing light(5 ATDC at 1000 RPM)
Check if the spark plug is in good condition NO (Refer to SPARK PLUGS on p56)
Replace the spark plug with new one
Disconnect the engine stop switch wire (BlueRed) No or weak sparks Check ignition coil resistance (Refer to page 99)Primary: 0.20.40 Secondary: 6.8 -10.2 kO OK Check spark plug cap for any evidence of high-tension leakOK Check spark plug cap resistanceCap resistance:12 kO OK Check condenser charge coil resistance (Refer to page 97)Coil resistance: 12.518.8 OK Check the pulse coil resistance(Refer to page 98)Coil resistance: 148222 Out of
