Pinion Gear and Driveshaft Installation
Install the pinion shim from the gearcase
IMPORTANT: Before completing this installation
procedure, check the forward gear to pinion gear backlash, the tooth contact pattern, and the initial driveshaft thrust playRefer to "SHIMMING AND GEAR BACKLASH CHECKS" on page 220 for these proceduresApply Gasket Sealing Compound to the mating surfaces of the gearcase and the driveshaft bearing housingThen install the complete driveshaft and bearing housing assembly to the gearcase
