Oil Requirements
IMPORTANT: 4-Stroke outboards are shipped without oil in the crankcaseOil must be added before starting the engine for the first timeIMPORTANT: During the initial 1O-hour break-in
period, use EvinrudelJohnson 4-Stroke Outboard Oil or SAE 10W-40, API SE, SF, SG, SH, or SJ rated DO NOT use synthetic or synthetic blend oils during break-in periodEvinrudelJohnson Ultra TM 4-Stroke synthetic outboard oil is recommended for normal use in these outboards after break-in

DO NOT run outboard without water supply to the outboard's cooling systemCooling system andor powerhead damage could occur&
If Ultra 4-Stroke oil is not available, you must use SAE 1OW-40, API SE, SF, SG, SH, or SJ rated
DO NOT run the engine indoors or without adequate ventilation or permit exhaust fumes to accumulate in confined areasEngine exhaust contains carbon monoxide which, if inhaled, can cause serious brain damage or death
IMPORTANT: Failure to follow this recommendation could void the outboard warranty if lubrication-related failure occursIf SAE 10W-40 motor oil is not available, select an alternative according to the following chart:
