To avoid accidental starting of engine while servicing, twist and remove spark plug leads

Shut off fuel supply at fuel shut-off valve
Check for leaks between emulsion pickup tube and carburetor bodyInvert carburetor body and fill idle circuit with isopropyl alcoholCheck for leaks where emulsion tube passes through bodyShut-off valve
