IGNITION SYSTEM TROUBLESHOOTING
TROUBLESHOOTING
Perform the following ignition system tests when engine is hard to start to determine if the cause is in the ignition or other systemSTART
+ Check spark condition
(Set tester gap at 516)
Check ignition timing by using timing light(5 ATDC at 1000 RPM)
Check if the spark plug is in good condition NO (Refer to SPARK PLUGS on p56)+
No or weak sparks
Replace the spark plug with new one
+ OK the engine stop switch wire Disconnect
(BlueRed)
Check andor replace the engine stop switch (Refer to page 100)
+ No or weak sparks Check ignition coil resistance
