Before installing bearing, ensure that the inside of gearcase is clean and free of debris Ensure that the bearing stamped mark faces upward1Assemble rodpilot plate and removerinstaller and appropriate spacer 2Set the rodinstaller assembly as shown3Place the installer rod (with the pinion bearing on the end) into the gearcase4Secure the spacer
