IGNITION AND ELECTRICAL IGNITION TROUBLESHOOTING
IGNITION TROUBLESHOOTING
Perform the following ignition system tests when engine is hard to start to determine if the cause is in the ignition or other systemSTART Check spark condition Check ignition timing by NO ,=SJ::.pa=:r:k:: s_ using timing light1, (Ignition timing: STDC)
Replace the spark plug with new one

Check if the spark plug is in good condition NO (See page 2-8)
Disconnect the engine stop switch wire (Green)No or weak sparks Check the ignition coil resistance (See page 3-16)Primary: 0.07-0.11 Secondary: 3.28-4.90 kQ OK Check spark plug cap for any evidence of high-tension leakOK Check spark plug cap resistanceCap resistance: 8-12 kQ OK Check the condenser charge coil resistance(See page 3-14) Coil resistance: 368-552 kQ OK Check the pulse coil resistance(See page 3-15) Coil resistance: 168-252 kQ OK Check the COl unit(See page 3-16) Out of SpecReplace the CDI unit
