OILING SYSTEM OIL COMPONENT SERVICING
Oil Output Switch Test
IMPORTANT: Run outboard with 50:1 fueloil
ratioSTEP Remove oil supply hose from the oil inlet fittingConnect shop tank with 50: fueloil mix to the outboard's fuel inlet fittingStart the outboard and run at 1500 RPM in gearAfter the residual oil in the oil hose is used (may take several minutes), the System Check gauge's NO OIL light should turn ON and the warning horn should sound for 10 secondsTurn key switch OFF and reconnect oil supply hoseResults: NO OIL light activates and the horn sounds System functional NO OIL light activates but the horn does not soundFaulty horn, horn wiring, or gauge No warning at a"Check electrical circuits to oil output switch and rectifier regulator operationCheck System Check operation and continuity of signal wire (tanye"ow) from OMS pump to the System Check gauge before replacing OMS pumpSTEP START the outboardThe NO OIL warning should stop as the OMS pump lifts the outboard lubricant through the oil supply hoseRefer to Oiling System Priming on p52 and SYSTEM CHECK CIRCUIT TESTS on p88
