OILING SYSTEM OILING SYSTEM TESTS Check condition of the following components: Oil hoses and pickup Primer bulb check valve(s) operation In-tank oil filter Oil tank and cap Install 10 in(250 mm) length of 14 in(6.35 mm) 1.0clear vinyl hose with marks every 12 in(12.7 mm) for in(101.6 mm)
IMPORTANT: Oil tank fill cap serves as tank ventThe cap must allow air to enter the tankA collapsed oil tank may indicate inadequate venting
Oil Tank Sending Unit Test
The oil tank sending unit test is functional testRemove the oil from the oil tank and turn the key switch ONThe LOW OIL light of the System Check gauge should activateOnce the warning has been verified, refill the oil tank, turn the key switch ON and confirm that the LOW OIL warning does not activateRepair or replace faulty wiring, System Check gauge, or oil tank sending unitDRC7006

Fill the hose with outboard lubricant and run the outboard to eliminate air from the base of the hose and OMS pumpShut OFF the outboard and add oil to the hose until the level is above the highest markSTART and run outboard at 1500 RPM and monitor the pump cycles by using fuel pressure gauge or putting light finger pressure on the outlet hoseCount the pulses for the oil level to drop in(76 mm) The pump should pulse to times for in(76 mm) oil level drop in the 14 in(6.35 mm) 1.0hoseIf results are different, check the pulse limiter before repairing or replacing the pump
