FUEL SYSTEM
CARBURETOR
Check for leaks between emulsion pickup tube and carburetor body: Invert carburetor body and fill idle circuit with isopropyl alcohol Check for leaks at point shown below If leak occurs, blow dry and apply drop of Ultra Lock at point shownInstall new nozzle well gasketInstall the inlet valve assemblyInstall the hinge pin and floatInstall the intermediate air bleed orificeInstall the high-speed orifice, gasket, and drain plug (4050 PL Models) or nipple (40R, 40RL Models)Install slow-speed needle and springTurn carefully until it lightly contacts seatBack needle out for initial setting: 112 turns for 40 HP Models 3112 turns for 50 HP Models Install the carburetor body cover and gasketTighten the screws in an "X" pattern to torque of 15 to 22 inIbs(1.6 to 2.4 Nm)

Assembly
IMPORTANT: Before proceeding, be sure that all parts are perfectly cleanBe sure that all replacement parts match original ones in size and shapeReplace all gaskets, O-rings, and sealing washers each time you assemble carburetorIf removed, install new vent well core plug with the convex side upSeat the plug using flat end punch and plastic malletApply Gasoila sealer to the rim of the plug after it is seated
