10-HOUR INSPECTION
IMPORTANT: All Johnson outboard owners are encouraged to return their new engines to an authorized dealer for mechanical checkThis check should be performed after approximately 10 operating hoursThe cost of this check should be figured at local dealer labor rates and paid for by the outboard ownerThe 1O-hour inspection should check: Drain and fill gearcase with recommended lubricantPressure and vacuum test gearcase if signs of water are present On outboards with mechanical steering, lubricate cable ram with Triple-Guard grease Check torque on cylinder head screws and spark plugsRefer to Powerhead ASSEMBLY on p194 for torque sequence for the cylinder head screwsLoosen spark plug 114 turn before applying torque Check all linkage adjustments Check engine mounting hardware for tightness Lubricate all grease fittings with Triple-Guard grease Check entire boat and outboard fuel system for signs of deterioration, damage, or leaks Check all outboard systems for signs of deterioration or problems
