POWERHEAD NEUTRAL START PROTECTION To adjust, loosen the start button screwWith the outboard in NEUTRAL, center the button in the switch recessTighten the start button screw2

To adjust, rotate the propeller shaft and shift outboard into NEUTRALRemove the yellowred lead from the neutral start switchLoosen the neutral start switch screws and adjust the distance between the bottom of the neutral start switch and the top of the plunger to 116 in(1.6 mm)Insert 116 in(1.6 mm) drill bit between the bottom of the switch and the top of the plunger to gauge the clearanceMove the switch until the switch and plunger contact the drill bitTighten the switch screws securely
Connect the starter motor red wire to the starter motorTighten the nut securelyApply Black Neoprene Dip to the connectionReconnect the battery cablesCheck operation of start switchShift outboard into FORWARD and REVERSE and press start buttonStarter should operate ONLY with shift lever in NEUTRAL position
