General
Before replacing suspect fuel pump, remove and clean the fuel filter and install new filter elementAlso, remove the fuel hose from the fuel tank and blow through all passages and hoses with low-pressure compressed air to be sure they are openThis might be the cause of inadequate fuel deliveryIf this procedure does not correct the trouble, perform Fuel Pump Pressure Test on p.145

IMPORTANT: To prevent excessive fuel spillage, disconnect hose connector at outboard before disassembly
Primer should pump approximately 10 cc of alcohol in ten strokesIf pump fails to pump alcohol, disassemble and check for missing, cut, or split 0rings or damaged check valves
