Cleaning and Inspection
ALL MODELS Inspect the brushes for wear and damageReplace brushes if damaged or wornReplace weak brush springs
IMPORTANT: Before disassembly, scribe marks
on frame and end caps for reference during reassemblyClean commutator with 300-grade emery clothIf commutator surface is unevenly worn or pitted, turn on latheRemove any trace of oil or metal dust from commutatorCheck the armature on growler for shorted turns using test light or meterInspect armature insulation for indications of overheating or damaged windingsClean off any carbon deposits or foreign matter which could contribute to failure of windings1Scribe marks
