PERIODIC MAINTENANCE VALVE CLEARANCE
VALVE CLEARANCE
INSPECT INITIALLY AFTER 10 HOURS (1 MONTH) AND EVERY 200 HOURS (12 MONTHS) THEREAFTER
1Remove: Side covers (See page 7-1) Recoil starter (See page 5-1) Spark plugs Breather hose Cylinder head cover (See page 6-9)
2Rotate the crankshaft to bring each piston to Top Dead Center (TDC) on the compression stroke
For No1 (top) cylinder: Rotate the crankshaft clockwise to align the PUNCH mark next to "1" on the cam pulley with the INDEX mark on the cylinder head blockFor No.2 (bottom) cylinder: Rotate the crankshaft clockwise to align the PUNCH mark next to "2" on the cam pulley with the INDEX mark on the cylinder head block
