POWERHEAD ASSEMBLYHP
Timing Procedure
Install timing belt around crankshaft pulleyPlace flywheel in position and turn clockwise to align the triangular mark on flywheel with the pointer on manual starter boss
Remove screw from the end of the camApply Nut Lock to screw and, with tool on crankshaft to prevent rotation, torque to 84 to 106 inIbs(10 to 12 Nm)
Valve Lash Adjustment
Rotate cam pulley clockwise to align mark with extrusion on cylinder head
IMPORTANT: Motor must be cold to adjust
valve lashValve lash adjustment must be made with motor in timed position as described in Timing Procedure, aboveSet tappets for No1 piston using Tappet Adjustment Tool, PIN 341444, and feeler gauge: Intake (upper rocker)0.003 in(0.08 mm) Exhaust (lower rocker)0.005 in(0.12 mm) Torque tappet nuts to 100 to 115 inIbs(11 to 13 Nm)Rotate crankshaft pulley clockwise one revolution (360)This will rotate camshaft pulley one-half revolution (180) so the pointer faces opposite the extrusion on the manual starter bossSet tappets for No.2 piston to the same specifications as No1 piston
