POWERHEAD ASSEMBLYHP Torque in stages to 96 to 108 inIbs(11 to 12 Nm)Bend retainer tabs up to hex headsgasket in position on block, apply Nut Lock to screws and tighten securely
IMPORTANT: DO NOT overtighten screws or rod cap distortion will resultBlock plate screws
Apply Gasket Sealing Compound to casing of new upper crankshaft seal, and oil to the seal lipsApply Gel Sealto mating surfaces of cylinder block and coverApply oil to threads of block to cover screws and attach block to coverTorque screws to 15 to 17 ftIbs(20 to 23 N'm) in sequence shown
IMPORTANT: When starting seal over the crankshaft, be sure the lips fit properly and the seal is square in the boreRemove keys from the crankshaft and place the seal, casing up, on the crankshaftUse Crankshaft Seal Installer, PIN 342215, indeep-well socket and hammer to tap upper seal into placeTap until installer contacts the powerhead
