Remove the starboard lower motor coverRemove the ignition coilRefer to IGNITION section Place rag under the filter and remove nut and filter element

To clean the filter element, rinse with solvent and dry with compressed airIf necessary, replace filter elementUse oil to lubricate the a-rings on the cleaned or new filter element and nutInstall filter and tighten 14 turn after nut a-ring contacts baseWipe up any spilled oilInstall ignition coil and starboard motor cover
