Remove the screw retaining the starter lockout lever, lockout lever springs, starter housing washer, and pulley support with screw
Wear safety glasses while disassembling and assembling manual starters because of rewind spring tensionPull the starter rope out far enough to tie slip knot in the ropePry the starter rope anchor out of the handleRemove the handle, release the knot, and ease the starter pulley back until the rewind spring is fully unwoundIf necessary, remove the starter handle bracket from the starter housing1Starter lockout lever screw Washer Pulley support with screw
