MAINTENANCE SYNCHRONIZATION AND LINKAGE
SYNCHRONIZATION AND LINKAGE &
WARNING
Loosen jam nut on the throttle control rod from the throttle camRotate jam nut and thumb wheel clockwise until seated on rod&
Adjust idle speed screw dimension "8" to 0.5 in(12 mm)Tighten idle speed screw locknut
To prevent accidental starting while servicing, twist and remove all spark plug leads
Throttle Plate Synchronization
Loosen the cam follower adjustment screw and move the cam follower (roller) away from the throttle cam
IMPORTANT: Synchronization and linkage procedures MUST be followed in sequence and be performed exactly as described to ensure consistent engine idling and smooth operation throughout the RPM range
Preliminary Adjustments
The following settings are nominal for set-up and may vary depending on component tolerancesAdjustments dl:lring test tank and on-water running should be expectedRemove the throttle cable bracket mounting screw and washerAdjust length of spark control rod dimension "A" to in(50 mm)Measure between the centers of the two sockets on the spark control rodIf adjustment is required, use gentle prying motion to remove the forward socket from spark leverRotate socket to achieve correct dimension1Cam follower adjustment screw
