GEARCASE ASSEMBLY68 Install the shift rod and rotate to engage rod with shift cam Coat both sides of new gearcase cover gasket with Adhesive sealantInstall the gasket and coverApply Nut Lock to the cover screws and tighten the screws to torque of 60 to 80 inIbs(7 to Nm)Place the gearcase in the position shown and install pinion
Install the forward gear by positioning it in the gearcaseInsert the propeller shaft into the forward gearPull up sharply on the shaft until the forward gear snaps into positionRemove the propeller shaftPosition one pinion thrust washer on the pinionOil and install the thrust bearingInstall the other thrust washer on the pinion
