DISASSEMBLY68WARNING
Remove the two gearcase head screws
Wear safety glasses to avoid personal injury, and set compressed air pressure to less than 25 psi (172 kPa)
IMPORTANT: Clean and inspect all components during disassemblyReplace all damaged components, seals, O-rings, and gaskets upon assemblyRemove propellerRefer to PROPELLERRemove gearcaseRefer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATIONRemove water pumpRefer to WATER PUMPDrain the gearcase by first removing the oil level plug, then the oil filldrain plugRemove three gearcase cover screws and remove the coverDiscard the gearcase cover gasketTap lightly on the ears of the gearcase head using wooden dowel and mallet until the gearcase head has rotated 10 or 15 in either direction Drive the gearcase head rearward by tapping alternately with soft mallet on each of the ears until the O-ring is disengagedSlide gearcase head and propeller shaft out of the gearcase1Cover screws
