GEARCASE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Lubricate both ends of driveshaft coupler with Moly Lube and install on end of driveshaftInstall driveshaft tube

Place the shift lever into FORWARD gearLubricate the driveshaft splines with Moly Lube Do not coat the top surface of the driveshaft as lubricant here may prevent seating of the driveshaft in the crankshaft

Lightly apply Triple-Guard grease to lower outside diameter of the water tubeInstall the gearcase onto the exhaust housing Guide the water tube into the water tube grommet and see that the coupler engages the crankshaftRotate the flywheel, if necessaryMake sure the shift rod enters the shift rod bushing of gearcase housingDriveshaft splines
Lightly apply Triple-Guard grease to lower outside diameter of the water tubeInstall the gearcase onto the exhaust housing Guide the water tube into the water tube grommet and see that the driveshaft engages the crankshaftRotate the flywheel, if necessaryApply Nut Lock to the threads of the gearcase (and extension) retaining screwsInstall screws and align housingsTighten the front screw to torque of 120 to 144 in Ibs(14 to 16 Nm) and the two rear screws to torque of 60 to 80 inIbs(7 to Nm)
