SAFETY INFORMATION
Before working on any part of the outboard, first read the SAFETY section at the end of this manual
PROPELLER
Inspection
Carefully check the propeller and outboard for the following conditions: Damaged blades and signs of propeller cavitation Spun or overheated inner hub Inadequate lubricant Damage to outer hub area Correct size Check for bent or damaged propeller shaft
WARNING

To prevent accidental starting while servicing, remove the emergency stop lanyard and twist and remove all spark plug leadsKeep all electrical connections clean, tight, and insulated to prevent shorting or arcing and causing an explosionWear safety glasses to avoid personal injury, and set compressed air to less than 25 psi (172 kPa)Gasoline is extremely flammable and highly explosive under certain conditionsUse caution when working on any part of the fuel systemProtect against hazardous fuel sprayBefore starting any fuel system repair, carefully relieve fuel system pressureReplace any locking fastener (locknut or patch screw) if its locking feature becomes weakDefinite resistance to tightening must be felt when reusing locking fastenerIf replacement is indicated, use only authorized replacement or equivalentDuring service, the outboard may drop unexpectedlyAvoid personal inJury; always support the outboard's weight with suitable hoist or the tilt support bracket during service
