POWERHEAD ASSEMBLY68 Apply Locquic Primer to the mating flange of the crankcase and let air dryTighten the six main bearing screws in stages to final torque of 144 to 168 inIbs(16 to 19 Nm)Begin with center screws and work outward in spiral patternInstall and tighten the flange screws to torque of 60 to 84 inlb(7 to Nm)Install the lower bearing retaining ring with BEVELED EDGE OUTThe gap of retaining ring must be centered around the oil hole in the front of the crankcase Apply Gasket Sealing Compound to the outside diameter of new lower crankshaft sealInstall the seal with lip facing up towards flywheel, until seal bottoms on the retaining ring Apply Gel-Seal I! sealant to the cylinder block flangeThe application must cover the flange evenly and consistently without being excessiveThe application must not come within 14 in(6 mm) of the labyrinth seals or bearings
