To simplify reassembly and wiring installation, lay out the various screws and clamps in the order of their proper location Use punch to remove lower crankshaft sealIf necessary, replace crankshaft to driveshaft sealUse mallet to install the seal flush with the top of the crankcase flange
Remove the thermostat cap and thermostat components from the cylinder head Remove the cylinder head and gasketDiscard the gasketWith an indelible ink marker, mark the top piston dome, "No1," and the bottom piston dome, "No2"
