FUEL SYSTEM SAFETY INFORMATION
SAFETY INFORMATION
Before working on any part of the outboard, first read the SAFETY section at the end of this manualTo avoid accidental starting of engine while servicing, twist and remove all spark plug leadsCheck nonmetallic fuel system parts for signs of deterioration, cuts, cracking, or abrasionAlways replace with specified parts

Fuel is gravity fed from the fuel tank to the carburetorThe fuel system consists of the following components: Integral fuel tank Fuel filter and Shut-off valve assembly Carburetor Intake manifold

WARNING

Gasoline is extremely flammable and highly explosive under certain conditionsUse caution when working on any part of the fuel systemProtect against hazardous fuel sprayBefore starting any fuel system service, carefully relieve fuel system pressureAlways disconnect the battery cables at the battery before servicing the fuel system unless instructed to do otherwiseAlways work in well ventilated area and wipe off any fuel spillageDO NOT smoke and make certain no open flames or ignition sources existAfter servicing the fuel system check for leaksFailure to check for fuel leakage could allow leak to go undetected, resulting in fire or explosionDo not attempt to run engine with any fuel system component disconnected or removed except as directedFuel leakage could contribute to fire or explosion
