Disassembly
Pull out starter rope and tie slipknot to relieve spring tension while removing handleRemove two screws and washer retaining motor cover panelUntie knot in end of rope and remove handle
Remove return spring, spring cover, spring, and ratchet
friction
Motor cover panel
Rotate pulley back and forth until spring disengages from bottom of pulleyCarefully lift the pulley straight off the starter housing so that the spring remains in the housing
Pull starter rope out to limitHold pulley firmly so it will not rewind and release slipknotCarefully allow pulley to slowly rotate until it is fully unwoundRemove retaining ring, thrust washer, and friction plate
