IGNITION IGNITION TESTS68 Test for grounded conditionConnect ohmmeter, alternately, between each jumper and clean engine ground Locate and repair ground, or replace sensor coil If no reading is indicated, go to Output Test
Output Test
Set peak-reading voltmeter to "NEG" and "5," or "SEN" and "5" on Stevens CD-77 meterAttach voltmeter black lead to ignition plate connector, terminal "C" Attach meter red lead to terminal "8 Crank engine (150 RPM minimum) and observe meter
Results:
Any needle movement indicates charge coil or leads are groundedLocate and repair ground, or replace charge coilComplete all circuits disconnected during this test

Disconnect 5-pin Amphenol connector between ignition plate and power packSet peak-reading voltmeter to "NEG" and "5," or "SEN" and "5" on Stevens CD-77 meterAlternately, connect voltmeter between ignition plate connector terminals "8," "C," and clean engine groundCrank engine (150 RPM minimum) and observe meter at each connection
