shut off the outboard to prevent damageFind and correct the cause before continuingVerify shift function by shifting into gear and observing that the boat moves and the movement is in the same direction as the shifterChange engine RPM often Avoid holding throttle setting longer than 15 minutes
DO NOT run the outboard indoors or without adequate ventilationWhen running, the outboard emits potentially harmful fumes which, in sufficient concentrations can lead to unconsciousness, brain damage, or death
