Manual Starter Servicing5 Removal
1To avoid accidental starting of engine while servicing, twist and remove spark plug lead2Remove screws retaining starter to the engine
3Loosen adjustment nut and remove cable from starter housing and lockout arm
Rope Replacement 1Pull rope out completely and allow pulley to retract until hole aligns with lockout slotW
2Place wire or pin in hole to secure pulleyRemove knot from pulley and untieSeparate end from handle and untie knotRemove rope from pulley and housing3To replace rope, turn pulley counterclockwise until pulley cavity aligns with housing rope holes Place wire or pin in pulley hole to secure pulley and thread rope through holesTie knot and secure in pulley rope cavity
