Carburetor Adjustment2, 2.3, 3.3 Idle Speed Adjustment For accurate results, test run the engine in the water on the customer's boat1Start engine and run it at half throttle until it reaches operating temperature before making adjustmentInspect engine for gasoline leaks&

2Run engine at slow speed, and adjust the slow speed adjustment screw until the engine runs in the range of 1100-1300 RPM Allow 15 seconds for the engine to respond to adjustment

Throttle Jet Needle Adjustment

The carburetor is equipped with throttle valve that uses tapered jet needle to vary the fuel flow as the carburetor is opened Normally, the clip is in the fourth groove Relocating the clip to the first, second, or third groove of the jet needle will lean the mixtureThe first indication of too rich mixture is decrease in RPM as the carburetor is opened beyond 03 throttleSo, maximum RPM will occur at less than wide-open throttle If the mixture is too rich, change the clip position on jet needle as follows1Remove carburetor as described in Carburetor Removal2Disassemble throttle valve assemblyRefer to Carburetor Disassembly3Relocate the clip one groove closer to the flat end of the jet needle4Reassemble the carburetorRefer to Carburetor Assembly5Install carburetor as described in Carburetor Installation
