Continuity TestPositive CircuitHBF2 Models
INote To avoid damaging components or troubleshooting equipment, disconnect the battery cables before proceeding1Use an ohmmeter calibrated on high ohms scale or continuity light to test continuity2Connect one meter lead to electric outboard positive RED battery cableLeave this meter lead connected for all the following tests3Remove bottom cover plate from pedal baseConnect second meter lead to pin that will pierce wire at spliceTest for continuity at both sides of splice in RED lead in pedal base: Meter must show continuity If meter shows no continuity, repair or replace battery cable connectionINotel Completely reseal wire at test area with OMC Black Neoprene Dip

to ONOFF switch center

Meter must show continuity5Connect second meter lead to ONOFF switch top terminalPush switch to ON position Meter must show continuity If meter shows no continuity, repairreplace battery cables or ONOFF switch[] 6Remove steering housing coverConnect second meter lead to pin that will pierce wires at splicesPush switch to ON position with speed control at 3, 2, and 1Test RED, GREEN, and GREENWHITE leads at both sides of splices in steering housing Meter must show continuity If meter shows no continuity, repair or replace speed control switch, base-to-steering-housing wire, or spliceINotel Completely reseal wire at test area with OMC Black Neoprene Dip to seal wires
