General Safety Warnings

Before working on any part of the outboard, read the section called Safety at the end of this manualBefore servicing or removing any electrical parts, disconnect the battery cables at the battery to prevent electrical sparksDo not use jumper cables and booster battery to start engineDo not charge battery in the boat with an external chargerFumes vented during either operation can lead to an explosionWhen replacement parts are required, use genuine OMC parts or parts with equivalent characteristics including type, strength, and materialFailure to do so may result in product malfunction and possible injury to the operator andor passengersLessen the possibility of fire and explosion under the engine cover by making sure electrical wires are routed and clamped in their original positions, away from rotating parts which can damage wire insulationThe engine cover is machinery guardUse caution when conducting tests on running enginesDo not wear jewelry or loose clothing Keep hair, hands, and clothing away from rotating flywheelTo prevent possible eye injury, always ear SAFETY GLASSES while servicing the unit
