out with great force

18Slide ONIC Shift Detent Sleeve, PI 328081, over the propeller shaftAlign slot in the tool with hole in the propeller shaft
19Insert one detent ball, then the spring, then the other detent ballPush down on the ball and slide the tool back until you feel the ball slip into the detent
rn 20Install the propeller shaft and detent tool in gearcase:
Propeller shaft must engage forward bearingTool ramps must engage clutch dog rampsHold tool firmly against clutch dogGently tap propeller shaft with rawhide mallet to seat detent assembly
