After shimming and gear clearance adjustments have been made, disassemble gearcase and remove driveshaft1Degrease inside taper of the pinion and the driveshaft taper

CD, and driveshaft seal housing on the driveshaftLettered side

2Verify position of conical bearing and racepinion shim

of outer race must face up

3Install collardriveshaft collar protectorwasher with tang and washer in gearcasePlace tang of washer in either cavity in gearcaseInstall driveshaft spring on driveshaft
4Place driveshaft with spring in gearcaseApply OMC Nut Lock to new pinion nutInstall pinion and pinion nut finger tight
