CamCrank Position Sensors The Camshaft (CMP) and Crankshaft (CKP) Position sensors provide the ECU with piston and valve timing data so the ECU can maintain proper control of fuel and spark
INote If

the Cam Position sensor or one Crankshaft Position sensor becomes disabled, the engine will still be able to start and runThe tachometer, however, will display only 12 the normal engine RPMBut if both CKP sensors have failed, the engine will not start or run
CamCrank Sensor Replacement
Both the cam and crank position sensors are part of the same wiring harnessAlthough they have distinct input leads, they share common ground wireAll attach to ECU connector "E"One sensor is available to service all three, and will require being spliced into the wire harness at the appropriate pointAll three sensors and the wire harness are also available as complete assembly
CamCrank Sensor Resistance Tests
Use an ohmmeter to conduct the following checks: Camshaft Position Sensor Test]1Unplug connector "E" (small 4-wire) at the ECUProbe connector terminals No.1 (black wire) and (orangegreen wire) to check the CMP sensorRefer to the chart below for the correct specifications2If test results are not to specifications, check for wiring or terminal problemsIf none are found, replace the sensorCrankshaft Position Sensor Test
