Fuel Rail and Injectors
Removal
1Relieve fuel pressureSee procedure earlier in this chapterHave container ready to catch up to 12 ozof fuelHold container under pressure regulator and adapterDisconnect fuel supply line at bottom of fuel rail
[] 2Remove electrical connector at each injector[]]3Take out two screws mounting fuel railPull fuel rail and injectors off engineThe injectors are held to the rail and cylinder head by seals and O-rings, so simply pull them outDiscard and replace all seals and O-rings4If rail is to be replaced, unscrew union bolt at bottom of rail and remove hose connectorDiscard and replace the union bolt sealsInstallation 1Thoroughly clean all parts before installation All fuel components must be dirt free2.lf hose connector was removed, reattach itto bottom offuel rail with the union boltMake sure you use two new bolt sealsLoosely install bolt, it'll be tightened later[] 3Lubricate new seals and O-rings with light oil, and place them on each injector4Push injectors into the rail or cylinder head, whichever will make the railinjector installation easierRotate the injectors so the electrical connectors are in toward the cylinder head[] 5Position injectors and fuel rail on cylinder headMake sure injectors seat properly in rail and head, then install two fuel rail mounting screwsTighten screws to 16.5 ft Ibs(23 Nm) Attach injector electrical connectors6Orient hose connector so fuel line can be attached without kinking it, then tighten union bolt to 29 ftIbs(40 Nm)7Attach fuel supply hose to the connectorSecure with original clamp
