Neutral Start Switch [] The Neutral Start switch is operated by the shift control leverIt's an ONOFF switchit's "ON" (completes circuit) in NEUTRAL, and "OFF" in FORWARD or REVERSEThe switch detects gear shift position and sends signal to the ECUIf the switch is "OFF" (in gear) at engine start up, the starter motor and fuel injectors won't operateEven emergency rope starting will not start the engineThe Neutral Start Switch signal affects the followingStarting System (no crank) Fuel Injection System (3000 RPM limit) BTDC fixed timing above 1000 RPM lAC control seconds after shifting into FWD or REV from NEUTRAL

INote The remote control box also has Neutral Start switchIf
t he engine won't crank, don't overlook this as possible cause
RectifierRegulator
The ECU will recognize an overcharging condition if it receives signal of 16 volts or more, and store service code48344

Low Battery Voltage
This is an internal ECU sensorThe ECU requires power supply range of to 16 voltsWhen battery voltage decreases to less than volts for 30 seconds, the ECU turns on the "Check Engine" lightTurn off marine accessories with heavy voltage requirements such as PTIT, hydraulic trim tabs, etcCheck battery voltage and rechargereplace as necessaryThe warning system will reset when battery voltage restores to more than volts
