Install Control Cables Control Cable Identification and Control Function
1Put the control handle into NEUTRAL positionThe throttle cable casing guide will retract completely and the shift cable casing guide will go to the midpoint of its travel2Mark each cable to identify
3Move control to FORWARD, shift cable retractsMove control to wide-open throttle (WOT) in FORWARD, throttle cable extends4Move control to REVERSE, shift cable extendsMove control to WOT in REVERSE, throttle cable extends5This verifies remote control functions correctly
Cable identification and control function must be correct before continuing with installation

time the gearcase is shifted into FORWARD or REVERSE gear with the engine not running, turn the prop shaft to assist the shift movement1Remove the rubber grommet from front panel of lower engine coverRemove cable retainerApply liberal amount of OMC Triple-Guard grease to both anchor block pockets
