m& Disassembly 1To service lockout assembly, remove the retaining pin
[] 2Remove the plunger, spring, tappet, and cam from the housing, and lockout link from the cam 3Replace any worn or damaged parts and reinstall lockout assembly in housingWear safety glasses while disassembling and assembling manual starters because of rewind spring tension
[] 4Pull rope out completely and retain pulley in position with starter lockout Remove retaining ring and pawl with linkage 5Remove rope from pulley channel, untie knot, and remove rope from starter assembly[] 6Place handle (Kit, PIN 342682) on pawl pin to hold pulley stationaryRelease lockout and slowly unwind pulley until tension is released
7Remove retaining ring from spindle screw
8Hold pulley down in housing and remove spindleCarefully lift out pulley, leaving spring in housingDo not remove spring with housing facing upDo not lift spring out of housing by hand or with pliersSpring is under tension and will cause injury if accidentally released
