17Carefully slide the propeller shaft assembly into the forward gear18Place the thrust washer in recess of the reverse gearSlide the reverse gear onto the propeller shaft and rotate it slightly until it engages the pinionthe retaining screws and around a-ring flange of the gearcase headApply avIC Triple-Guard grease to new gearcase head O-ringInstall the a-ringApply CIVIC Triple-Guard grease to the seal lipsInstall the gearcase head and tighten the screws to torque of 60-84 in Ibs(7-9 Nm)20Install seal saver on propeller shaft with lip facing outPress it securely in place

21Apply CIVIC Triple-Guard grease to the driveshaft seal lipsInstall the driveshaft and rotate to engage pinion splines
22Install the water pump plate and the gaskets Coat both sides of the plate gaskets with avIC Gasket Sealing Compound23Coat the impeller drive key with CIVIC Needle Bearing Assembly Grease and put it in position on the flat on the driveshaft
