1 Cylinder Block and Crankcase

1Remove and replace dowel pins and water deflector, if necessary2Remove two screws retaining cylinder block plateRemove plate and discard gasket
3Turn crankshaft to allow access to the rod cap
4Bend rod cap retainer tabs back and remove screws, washers, retainer, and cap45324

INote Replace retainers and rod cap screws whenever removed5Use 1J4 in(6 mm) diameter wood dowel, or equivalent, to tap on rod for removal of piston and rod from blockDo not allow rod to contact cylinder wallThe rod cap is unique and can only be installed on its mated connecting rod45325
