6Remove pinion and plastic weather cover from pinion shaft7Remove the driven gear and thrust washer
8Using No.2 external retaining ring pliers, remove the retaining ring and rive gear from the armature shaft
9Loosen and remove the two thru-boltsMark the end cap orientation, and remove the cap10Gently, tap the starter frame with rubber mallet to loosen
[] 11Check end of shaft or inside end cap for insulator capInspect and replace, if necessary
