6Use one of the following methods to install the water intake screen Drop it into the water intake cavity, and push it down as far as it will go with screwdriver or other suitable tool Install both halves and secure with two screws, one on either side
7Lightly coat the detent ball and spring with CIVIC Needle Bearing Assembly GreaseFirst, insert the spring in the housing, then the ball8Wear safety glasses to avoid injuryFace the detent lever toward either side of the housing Depress the ball and spring with punch while pushing the detent lever into the housingOnce the detent lever is past the ball, rotate the lever toward the rear of the housing, then move the detent lever to engage NEUTRAL positionThoroughly grease the original 25 needles with CIVIC Needle Bearing Assembly Grease and place in the bearing case

[] 10Face the narrow arms of the shifter toward the housing, then reach inside and attach it to the detent leverAlign the pivot holes and insert the retaining pin[11Push the detent lever down to its most depressed positionRest the cradle on the shift shaft CD, then attach the cradle and shaft to the wide arms of the shifterPull the detent lever back up to NEUTRAL position to hold the cradle and shaft in place] 12Coat thrust bearing and thrust washer with CIVIC Needle Bearing Assembly GreasePlace the bearing on the back of the forward gearSet the washer on top of the thrust bearingInsert the gear, bearing, and washer assembly into the bearing housingBe careful not to dislodge any of the loose bearings
