23Rotate cylinder block so that starboard cylinder head surface is facing up and horizontal to the floor24Repeat Steps 18 and 19 for starboard cylinders25Rotate cylinder block so that crankcase mating flange is facing up26Push all pistons to Top Dead CenterRemove numbered connecting rod caps27 Thoroughly clean upper seal area of the crankshaftInstall new upper seal on crankshaftDo not apply sealer to outside diameter of the seal
Gently lower crankshaft assembly into place
Orient all crankcase seal ring gaps facing up Locate tab on lower bearing seal housing in recess in crankcase Locate each center main bearing split sleeve on its dowel pin
29Lubricate No.1 crankpin and bearing assemblies with Evinrude or Johnson Outboard LubricantSlowly pull No1 connecting rod up to crankshaft and install bearings30Lubricate threaded portion of No.1 rod cap screws with Evinrude or Johnson Outboard LubricantAlign dot on rod cap with dot on the connecting rodInstall rod cap screws finger tight
