If the crankshaft sensor or its circuit fails, the engine will not run If the air gap is incorrect, the engine will run erraticallyA sensor that is damaged or out of adjustment will turn on the "CHECK ENGINE" light and store service code, but only if the failure occurs while the engine is running INote Crankshaft sensor operation can be verified by the Engine
Monitoring Screen of the OVIC Diagnostic ProgramRPM on the screen should reflect engine RPM while cranking
Oil System Components
Oil system components are located at the front of the crankcase on the fuel bracket, and on each intake manifold
Oil Pump
[] The oil pump is diaphragm-operated and driven by crankcase pulsesIt draws oil from the boat tank and supplies it to the oil injectorThe pump also mounts an oil pressure switch
Oil Pressure Switch
[] The oil pressure switch warns against loss of oil pressure that could cause powerhead damageIt's normally closed and opens under pressureBy removing the switch and attaching gauge, oil system pressure can be checkedThe switch receives current from the ECUIf oil pressure drops below PSI (27,6 6,9 kPa), the switch completes ground circuitECU reaction, however, is not immediate There is programmed time delay to prevent false warnings that could be generated by boat operating conditionsThe ECU will store service code in memory, turn on the System Check "NO OIL" light, and the engine will go into S.L.OW
